To successfully activate Hercules modems via SMS text message, the mobile phone number initiating the activation request must be associated to a Hercules Portal user and be listed as the SMS Number under their User Admin account settings. To activate a Hercules modem via SMS text message complete the following steps:
Text the word - activate - to 1-774-338-3187.
When prompted, reply with the serial number of the Hercules modem you wish to activate.
The system will confirm whether the phone number initiating the activation request is associated to the account and will return a message indicating whether or not the activation was successful.
Verify the activation has been successful by logging in to the Hercules Portal. It may take a few minutes for the activation to finalize.
Click the “Devices” icon from the menu navigation on the left.
Locate the recently activated Hercules modem within the list of devices and confirm that the green circle icon with a checkmark in the center is present in the Health column to the left of the serial number column, indicating that the overall system health is "good".*
*Green circle icon with a checkmark in the center will only be displayed for Hercules modems that are installed in an ATM.
Hercules modems activated but not installed in an ATM will display a grey circle icon with an "i" in the center.
If any other icon is displayed, tap or click the device to view additional details related to the connectivity health of the device.
