Configuring the Time Zone for a Hercules Modem
Making sure that the time zone for a Hercules modem is accurately configured ensures that automated functions such as electronic journal and parameter configuration uploads scheduled to automatically occur via Hercules RMS, take place during optimal Maintenance Window timeframes.

Note: The default Maintenance Window timeframe is 3:00AM to 5:00AM local time and can be configured within the RMS Configuration section of the device RMS Tab by selecting Show Details in the top right corner.

Location Info
Inputting an ATM's location in the Location Info section of the Device Settings tab is the best way to ensure the ATM's time zone is accurately configured.

Cellular Tower
The majority of 3G and LTE Hercules modems automatically detect and assume the time zone of the cellular tower they're connected to.

Note: 2G, CDMA and some 3G Hercules modems are unable to detect and use the time zone of the cellular tower they're connected to.


Company Settings
From the Company Settings section of the Hercules Portal you can assign a company wide Default Time Zone to all 2G and CDMA Hercules modems. 

Note: Configuring the Default Time Zone in the Company Settings section only affects modems that don't have a cellular location (mainly, 2G and CDMA modems). If the Location has been configured in the Location Info section of the Device Settings tab or if the Hercules modem is able to detect and use the time zone of the cellular tower it is connected to, changing the Default Time Zone in the Company Setting section will have no affect.

No Location Configured, Unable to Detect Time Zone of Cellular Tower and No Default Time Zone Configured in Company Settings
If a Hercules modem's Location has not been configured in the Location Info section of the Device Settings tab, is unable to detect and use the time zone of the cellular tower it is connected to, and no Default Time Zone has been configured in the Company Settings section - the Hercules modem will use Central Time as its default time zone.
