You can view the RSSI signal level of a Hercules on the modem itself when it is powered on and successfully connected. You can also view the RSSI level of a Hercules modem in the Hercules Portal.
LTE and Legacy
On LTE & older Hercules modems a RSSI level of 3 to 4 bars out of 7 is considered ideal, however; once a connection has been established the Hercules will successfully complete transactions with ease while displaying 1 to 2 bars.
Dual Ethernet
On dual Ethernet Hercules modems a RSSI level of 2 or more bars out of 4 is considered ideal, however; once a connection has been established the Hercules will successfully complete transactions with ease while displaying 1 bar.
Viewing the RSSI Level in the Hercule Portal
Each time a Hercules modem is powered on and connected it registers its initial RSSI signal level in the Hercules Portal.
To determine the present RSSI level in the Hercules Portal anytime after it is initially powered on you must physically power cycle the Hercules modem in person by disconnecting and reconnecting the power supply cable or by contacting DPL technical support to request the RSSI signal level be remotely refreshed.
Once the power cycle is completed and the Hercules modem has successfully reconnected or the RSSI signal has been refreshed by DPL technical support, the RSSI level displayed in the Hercules Portal will be updated to reflect the devices present RSSI level.
The RSSI level can be viewed in the Signal column of the device list view.
The RSSI level can also be viewed on the network health diagram at the top of the Device Health Dashboard of individual devices.
